This November marks two years since the cycling community felt the loss of Mark Gunter. He was not only one of Australia’s leading cycling photographers – of epic quality I might add – he was more importantly a great man. He was known for his kindness, his big eyes, his crazy hair, and his never ending smile. He was my husband, and he was a great father to Lucas.

Mark captured the attention of his peers and cycling fans everywhere. His beautiful images shone with emotion and insight. He simply loved the sport, and was incredibly passionate about his work.

It’s our second year, and we’re proud to be working with CyclingTips again for the 2017 Mark Gunter Photographer of the Year Awards. I was always proud to be Mark’s wife, and I truly hope with the support from the cycling community, we will be inundated with some incredible images. Being part of the Awards is honouring Mark – and for that I am grateful.

And the best news is, all the money raised is being donated to help cure cancer and to our Young Cyclist Assistance program. So entering is not just a chance to win some great prizes, and have your images seen by thousands, but it’s also a way to give back to our community.

See all the highlights here; week 1, week 2, week 3, and week 4 as selected by CyclingTips – and there are some cracking images to check out now – and hopefully they’ll inspire you to enter.

Good luck to you and thank you for being part of something special.

Mark was so passionate about seeing Young Cyclists develop and progress through their career. And he loved to capture their progress from behind the lens.  He mostly saw Australian cyclists “grow up”; but he was lucky enough to capture even some of the World Tour Pros through their early years.

The Mark Gunter Photographer of the Year Awards are so proud to continue to offer Young Cyclist Assistance by providing financial assistance of AUD$1,000 each for up to three young cyclists.

Go on – nominate yourself, or a bidding young cyclist you know who could do with a helping hand to help achieve their goals.
