“Hitters — The main group of favourites head towards the summit of Moosalp on Stage 6 of the Tour de Suisse as they failed to shut down the break. Typically Swiss with enormous mountain vistas in the back and traditional wooden houses roadside.” Luis Alcantarilla @eltoromediadotcom
“Sometimes the most beautiful roads appear when you go left in stead of right. Just the same as the road on this picture. The road was closed due to road work, but the explorer in us lead us on this road and we loved every bit of it.” Patrick Dorré @pjfilm
“Cecilie Ludwig exhausted after her first victory during the Tour de France 2022…laying on the ground in Epernay in a mix of excitement, happiness and brutal effort for winning the sprint.” Dario Belingheri @dariobelingheri
“Terrified spectators look on as Matt Walls of England crashes over the barrier whilst Derek Gee of Canada rides on the advert boards as they try to avoid Josh Duffy of Australia and George Jackson of New Zealand during the 2022 Commonwealth Games in the Men’s 15km Scratch Race Qualifying Round.” Will Palmer @willpalmer_photo
“What was probably already one of the hardest passes ever to be included in the Silk Road Mountain Race, was recently turned into a real test of character and will power by a massive landslide that has added some really steep hike a bike to avoid a dangerous section of loose scree. Riders pushed, carried and generally forced their bikes over this 4185M monster for most of the day. The Silk Road Mountain Race is an unsupported, single-stage race through the mountains of Kyrgyzstan.” Nils Laengner @nils_laengner
“On stage 11 of the Tour De France at the top of the Col Du Galibier, I chose to shoot the descent, instead of the famed climb. Unbeknownst to me, fireworks had been going off all the way up the slopes, with Jumbo Visma launching attack after attack to try to shake Tadej Pogacar’s grip on yellow. Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard crested the climb and flew past me towards the final test of the day, the Col Du Glandon, where Vingegaard would claim yellow and take it all the way to Paris.” Zac Williams @z_w_photography
“After climbing to the top of the Arc de Triomphe, I was treated to this stunning vista of the women’s peloton of the Tour de France Femmes racing up the Champs-Elysees surrounded by sprawling Paris.” Andy Rogers @fameandspear
For non-professional photographers using high-end cameras, and anyone with a smartphone or drone or action camera — we have the Amateur category.
“Italian World Road Race Champion Elisa Balsamo showing delight in winning stage 1 of the 2022 Tour of Valencia backed up by her team mate Elisa Longo Borghini who is also celebrating in her Italian champions jersey” Bob MacGregor @bob.macgregor.31
“I love the way that a local gravel race is organized, especially with limited resources. dusty roads and directions from only the racers, seeing the placement of riders and the focus early on in a race is amazing to see in a photo.” Michael Smith @mikeyplaysbass
“The Badger The Tour de France 2022. Waiting on the Col Du Galibier for the “professional” riders to arrive I heard a murmur from the mountain below. A cyclist on an old fashioned bike with a black and white wool jersey approached – none other than Bernard Hinault – the badger himself.” Jude Bytheway @cyclingbytheway
“An autumn ride improvised at the last minute, on a splendid day. The calm and the soft light at the Emosson dam were fantastic. All the conditions were there to capture this magical moment where you feel very small in this incredible nature.‘” Nathalie Monnier @monnier.nath
“This photo is from the 25 June 2022, of the UCI women’s points race at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center (aka T-Town). This shot is just after the start/finish line, right before turn one. This was between sprint laps, the field was swinging up and the T&T rider was coming underneath.” Kyle Helson @khelson10
“Cycle racing is a unique sport where fans can get within touching distance of our idols. I had driven nearly 100 miles to see the action and had arrived early enough to ride the course myself (a very short-held Strava QoM!) before deciding to wait near the top of this sharp climb. The fans gathered too and excitement rose as the tour’s top contenders arrived. Little did we know that the monumental effort of Demi Vollering here would prove decisive in securing her overall victory.” Sarah Kelman @glidergoth
