Matt Ben Stone @mattbenstone: “Denise Mueller-Korenek breaking the Bicycle world land speed record traveling 184MPH.”

Jeff Vander Stucken @jeffvsphoto: “The Red Bull Bay Climb is a grueling race up 3 of the steepest city blocks in the Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Fransisco. When I saw that someone had added “don’t” to the usual “stop” on the street I knew I had to work it into a shot. Here a racer struggles up the middle 23% grade section as the crowd encourages him to keep going.”

Paolo Martelli @paolopennimartelli: “”lo squalo” Vincenzo Nibali, right after crossing the finish line in Milano Sanremo 2018. For me, italian, probably one of the most emotional day of the year.”

Pete Dunlop @pdittyimages: “The day after Kristina Clonan and Rebecca Wiasak won their respective categories (U23 & Elite) at the 2018 AUS National Criterium Championships, I was lucky enough to get an exclusive shoot with them all the way through Golden Hour on a secluded backroad in regional Ballarat. One of my favourite shoots I’ve ever done.”

Jean-Pierre Ronco @imagewriterphotography: “Friendship #1 – Christoph Bulling running along side his good friend Emanuel Buchmann giving him his best support. “When he was younger and no prorider like today I supported him a lot. Drove him to cycling races, give hime drinks while the race or we trained together. So actually a good friendship over the years.” said Christoph.”
For non-professional photographers using high-end cameras, we have the Enthusiast category. It’s a loose description including entries taken on high-end cameras including Interchangeable Lens Cameras (ILC), mirrorless, film, compact, DSLR and other cameras.

Benoit Peyrat @melobatz: “September 15, 2018 in Escaldes-Engordany (Andorra) : like a rockstar, Peter Sagan makes his way through the crowd, signing autographs, making selfies, to take the start of the penultimate stage of the Vuelta 2018.”

Dean Harris @mirroredechoes: “Winners are grinners. A very happy Daryl Impey after crossing the finish line to win the 2019 Tour Down Under.”

Edward Riley @ed._riley: “I took this on stage 2 of the 2018 Tour de Yorkshire which finished on top of the Cow and Calf in my hometown of Ilkley. I think all the orange makes for a nice photo. I’ve not taken many photos from races as I’m only 16.”

Kate Busick @katiebusickphotography: “”Powering Through’ Jeremy Powers fought his way back from early season health issues to come in 5th at Nationals.”

Jim Klages @@jimklages: “Fan running ahead of first lap leaders up the steep Sherrod Road climb at the US Nationals Road Race”
The SmartPhone / Action Cam category refers to still photos taken on devices such as iPhones, Android, Windows Mobile, etc, as well as still photos from devices such as GoPro, Shimano Sports Cam, Garmin VIRB, and drones.

Shaharin Wan @wshah: “Passo Vrsic, Slovenia. Vršič Mountain Pass with its 1,611m is the highest road pass in the Eastern Julian Alps. The high-mountain road from Kranjska Gora through Vršič to Log in Trenta has 50 serpentines, 24 on the side of Kranjska Gora and 26 on the Trenta side.”

Ralph Bischoff: ”Inside View’ This picture was taken near the top of the Col du Tourmalet during stage 19 of this year’s TdF. ‘The calm before the storm’ describes the period after the caravan has passed, and the riders are about to arrive. A live TV inside one of the RVs was well appreciated by the some Tour enthusiasts, to follow the race action.”
This week we are honoured to share you some of the Proud Cycling Moments, where the story is as important as the image. Please read the story to really feel the meaning of the image. Thank you to all our photographers who have entered this category. It’s a joy to see the images.
This week, an image entered by Dave Hogan @easedowntherd was entered into the Smartphone / Action Cam category, but it’s clearly a Proud Cycling Moment, so we’ve showcased it here.

Dave Hogan @easedowntherd: “This is my six year old daughter, venturing off into the forest near the Great Ocean Road in her pink cardie and lady-bug helmet, reminding me how much fun cycling is.”

Wouter Hoogenboom @bicycle.racing.pictures: “Once a cyclist, always a cyclist. This spectator came out with his cycling friends to proudly support and watch the races at a local criterium event in Harlem, New York City.”

Wouter Hoogenboom @bicycle.racing.pictures: “Peter is a USA Cycling Coach, Co-executive Director of the Star Track Youth Program, and proud cycling dad of Billy, an aspiring junior racer. You will find Peter roadside and trackside at races all over the country and abroad supporting riders in whatever weather Mother Nature brings. This photo – taken in subzero temperatures moments before the start of a local New York City Crit – perfectly illustrates this.”
